Little lamb

There it is,

that one special box that is significant to the Christmas season.

Your little Nativity.

You gently unwrap the crinkled tissue paper you save every year to wrap it in

or try to get the magnetized Styrofoam balls off your Christmas sweater.

Even what it is wrapped in,

is precious and nostalgic.

Tenderly you set up each piece

as though you are placing gifts

on an alter to the Lord;

reverently, respectfully.

Here is Mary, she goes here.

Here is Joseph,

he always goes there.

Then the most precious piece of all–

the baby–Jesus.

The sweet baby that makes this Christmas time

so wonderful and grand!

He is handled with the most gentlest care of all.

You then arrange and rearrange the shepherd,

the wise men,

the little sheep.

They stand in a different spot each year

worshiping the baby Jesus.

But today you pick that little piece.

The vulnerable one.

It is the little lamb.

This piece is ME!
Where are you little lamb?

Are you snuggling close to the manger

to feel the warmth of the Savior of the world?

Are you worshiping close by?

Are you being led by Shepherds

who follow the light in the darkness?

Where are you little lamb?

Are you lost in the wilderness?

Are you lonely and cold today?

Are you stuck in the brambles of life, hurting?

Are you hiding in fear?

Where are you little sheep?
And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

“What man of you, having an hundred sheep if he lose one of them,

doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness,

and go after that which is lost until he find it?

And when he hath found it,

he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing

And when he cometh home,

he calleth together his friends and neighbors,

saying unto them,

Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost.”  Luke 15:3-6

Jesus is the Good Shepherd!

“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd;

He shall gather the lambs with his arm and carry them

in His bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”  Isa. 40:11

How blessed we are to have Jesus as our Shepherd!

Let yourself be found little lamb.

Put the little sheep

as close to the baby Jesus as I can get him

in my “life’s” nativity.

The Good Shepherd is searching and searching for me.

He will not stop until he can say “Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep…”

All of them!!
