Changing lullabies

Not all lullabies are sung quietly…

I am staying in a little cabin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with my teenage boys and their friend. They sleep in the space above me, on the second floor, all together in one room. They love having their own space!

Last night,

I was lulled to sleep

by laughing, yelling, and clicking

of controllers

as the boys played Mario Cart,

together, late into the night.

Lying in bed, I smiled.

Mother’s lullabies change over the years…

Sometimes they sing them,

Sometimes they are heard…

Ahhh…summer.

You are moving way too fast!
