Ahhhh Summer!

“Summer Afternoon…the two most beautiful words in the English language.”  Henry James.

Do you remember summer as a child?  What did you play?  Where did you go?

What do you want to get out of summer? How about for your child?

Check in for summer ideas to pull out of the moment, when you NEED to change the course of a day…

(Here are three critical factors for success with kids:)

1.  You gotta sell it! (Sometimes to yourself)

2.   And the Biggy is the element of surprise! (SHHHHHHH!)

Here are a few recipes for starters:

1. Monster Bubbles:

6 cups water

2 cups Joy dishwashing soap

3/4 c. light corn syrup

Mix all ingredients together in a large bucket and set for 4-6 hours.  Use a string threaded through 2 straws and that can be your bubble maker. Hangers and hands work too.

2. Shaving Cream Paint:

Mix tempera paint or food coloring with squirts of shaving cream on a cookie sheet. Is it raining? Put the kids bathing suits on and let them play with this in the tub.

3. Make your own Real doggy Biscuits:  Not for humans!

3 eggs

1/4 c. soy flour

1 T natural yeast

2 T wheat germ

2 T instant dry milk

2 T. water

Knead the dough for 3 minutes. Cut with cookie cutters and bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes. Then turn and bake on the other side for 25 minutes. Wrap as a special treat for a furry friend.  Give to your own pup as a special treat.
