Winter Blahs–It’s Play time!

Do you have the recipe for the best Play dough in the whole world?

Well here it is to share my friend!

The great thing about using art in your life is that you don’t have to be a child to play.  So make some for you and your date, for your grandma, your teenagers while watching sports, your bored preschoolers while you make dinner, and especially for you, because tactile and sensory play is healthy and FUN!  GO FOR IT!

What you need:

The Wets:

3 T. oil

2 cups of water.

The Drys:

2 Kool-Aid packages without sugar.  (My fav is cherry or orange)

2 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup salt

Combine dry ingredients in a bowl.  Bring the liquids to a boil and add to the dry.  Then knead the dough on your counter top until it is so soft, it smells so good.

BE CAREFUL to not let little hands begin kneading first.  It is super hot, but the more you work with it it gets cooler.

(tip:  Great for arthritis hands too.)

Got this recipe from Martha, Debbie, Sherri and Bonnie at Z’s preschool (Simi Covenant) 14 years ago and its still our absolute fav! Just made some for Bonnie Rose…

We made some and it is so soft and lovely. Wondering if I need to store it in the fridge or just in an airtight container at room temp? Thanks for the fun recipe!

    • I just put it in a ziplock freezer bag and sometimes I refrig it and sometimes I don’t. Yes it lasts longer if you refrigerate, but you don’t have to. The smell begins to wear away and the consistency begins to change a little when it gets old. But it lasts a long time. It is great! Pass it on!
